'sure to' or 'sure of'

有朋友問我'sure to do something' 同'sure of doing something' 有乜分別, 我話'sure to do' 係人哋估你會做, 'sure of doing'係你自己估自己會做.

好驚俾咗山埃俾人食, 英文了得嘅老友記, mms, 唉, kfk, ... 如果你哋有緣見到, 唔好扮盲, 請指教. sam, 出句聲唔該.

  1. 根據高級英漢牛津字典.

sure to do something 存在於解釋 3 , 等如Definitely going to do something. 幾直接. 相信無需多講.
sure of doing something , 字典無咁既例句格式. sure of 跟一個 gerund , 無. 係 Grammatically correct. 但 sure of 跟一個名詞就多. 無疑Gerund 都係當得做名詞.
但跟一個 gerund 有可能會好累贅, 因會 gerund 又扮演到 verb 個角色, 重要係 transitive verb. 咁即係又要使用 conjunction , 用 infinitve 咁方便. 相比下可以好辛苦.
    結論係唔知呀 !!! 用到就知, 但又唔識講.

Hitler wasn’t sure to love eva braun.
Hitler wasn’t sure of loving eva braun.

第一句可以係 flashback 返 munich 時代, 佢唔太肯定係咪去愛佢.
    第二句係成件事而言.

    嘻嘻, 唔識講.

    PS : 版面咁多德文既 ?

  2. 多謝你sam.

Hitler wasn’t sure to love eva braun.
Hitler wasn’t sure of loving eva braun.

    我可唔可以咁理解:

'Hitler wasn’t sure to love eva braun.' 係講人們唔認為hitler 會愛eva braun.

但'Hitler wasn’t sure of loving eva braun.'

    2. [not before noun] ~ of sth / of doing sth - certain that you will receive sth or that sth will happen : you are always sure of a warm welcome there. England must win this game to be sure of qualifying for the world cup.

    3. ~ to do sth, certain to do something or to happen : the exhibition is sure to be popular. it's sure to rain.

  6. 多謝sam.

    我係懶, 唔慣去摷下字典.

不過有陣時摷字典都未必有用, 啱啱去睇下本Oxford English Reference Dictionary, 咁鬼死大本都居然冇我要嘅嘢. 反而Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English 多d嘢講. 但都係冇講到有關嘅嘢.

    你又提醒我, 得閒真係搵個先生去問下都好. 唔似我咁認真啊呵? hehe.
